As a member of the Co-operative Memorial Society, you have rights we take seriously. Here is what you can expect from us.

To be treated with dignity - You will receive respectful, compassionate treatment from CMS staff, volunteers, and our funeral home partners — always.

To receive clear, honest information - We provide plain-language information about your membership, your planning options, and pricing. No jargon, no surprises.

To make informed choices - Your end-of-life plans are yours to make. We support your decisions with reliable, unbiased information and respect whatever you choose.

To privacy and security - Your personal and planning information is stored securely and will never be shared without your permission.

To raise concerns safely - You may bring questions or complaints to us at any time, without fear of any negative consequence.

To access your records - You can review or update your membership information and funeral plans whenever you wish.

To participate in your co-operative - As a member-owner, you have a voice. You are welcome to vote at our Annual General Meeting and to take part in events, committees, or volunteer opportunities.

A Few Things We Ask of You

Keep your information current - Please let us know if your address, phone number, or next-of-kin details change so your records stay accurate.

Tell your family or executor - Make sure someone close to you knows you are a CMS member and where to find your planning information when the time comes.

Treat others with courtesy - We ask all members to interact respectfully with CMS staff and our funeral service partners.

Understand what CMS does - CMS coordinates with locally owned funeral homes on your behalf — we are a planning and advocacy organization, not a funeral provider ourselves.

Support the co-operative - Your membership is a one-time fee. If you are able, donations help us remain sustainable and serve more Albertans over time.
