About Us
The Cooperative Memorial Society (CMS) was established in 1966 as a member-owned cooperative dedicated to offering a simple, dignified alternative to the elaborate and increasingly expensive services often promoted by the conventional funeral industry. Operating as a non-profit, non-sectarian organization, CMS is guided by a volunteer Board of Directors and managed by a dedicated Executive Director. We support our members with resources to help them record their final wishes and essential information for end-of-life planning. Our team also includes a part-time Membership Services Coordinator, providing personalized assistance to our members.
CMS engages its members through an annual meeting hosted via Zoom, quarterly email newsletters, and a series of educational presentations covering a range of relevant topics. Members benefit from access to substantially discounted funeral service plans. The greatest value, however, is the peace of mind that comes from knowing their end-of-life plans are in place, easing the burden on loved ones during what can be a challenging time.
Incorporated under the Alberta Co-operative Associations Act in 2004, CMS remains committed to empowering members with compassionate, straightforward, and affordable end-of-life planning solutions.
